Project Four:-

Building work carried out as part of a house renovation
Design brief:-
  • Carry out repairs and alterations to a domestic house as per the client's instructions
    		•

  • This property was the end terrace in a block of three, it had no fire wall between the neighbouring building thus causing a fire risk and a security theft hazard. We blocked up each side of the chimney to provide a secure boundary wall.
    		•
  • This room was an out side toilet with a wooden door facing out into the court yard. It was bricked up with reclaimed bricks and a concrete sill to match the house then finished off with UPVC window. The brickwork above the old door had also to be reinstated with a steel lintel as the old wooden door frame was the only thing holding up the brick work.

  • As part of this house renovation, tie bars had to be inserted into the walls to stabilise cracks in the internal brickwork that had happened over many years
